Karl2D
In the previous newsletter I announced the beta of my Karl2D game creation library.
Since then, I have been hard at work with adding audio support. Iām proud to finally have shipped the Beta 3: Audio support release!
A lot of different kind of work went into that release. The first thing was to play basic sounds and write a software mixer. I wrote a blog post about how I created the software mixer.
Other things I had to add to the library was:
Audio streaming
Possibility to play several sounds simultaneously
Backends for Windows, Linux, Mac and Web
Support for both mono and stereo audio
Smooth volume changes to avoid cracks and pops
I think making my own software mixer was worth it: The audio backends for each platform are very small. They just give the samples to the audio API for that platform, and the way the audio sounds is identical on all platforms.

Book update
Since the last newsletter, Iāve done two updates of my book āUnderstanding the Odin Programming Languageā: Version 1.9 and 1.10. Youāll find the change list for both updates here.
Version 1.9 addressed changes due to core:os/os2 becoming the new core:os package. Version 1.10 addressed changes due to Small_Array becoming [dynamic; N]T.
A return to YouTube
Those who watch my YouTube channel may have been sad that I didnāt post much during the last few monthsā¦ That is now changing! I am again trying to make more videos and host more live streams. Here are two recent videos.
